Though it is not as famous as some other variety of the Bel Paese, this Piedmont-region grape has given way to two of Italy’s most renowned varieties of wine: Barolo and Barbaresco. These are two varieties of wine that are inextricably linked with their territories. In fact, it was in Barolo and Barbaresco wine country that the concept of the cru, or of the vineyard was born.
