Tasting Notes

Bright garnet red in the glass. The typical and unmistakable bouquet features warm and ethereal scents that are pleasant and spicy, with notes of truffle, tobacco, nutmeg, liquorice and withered flowers. Robust and structured on the palate, warm and dry, with full and important tannins, and an impertinent persistence.

Pairing

The ideal companion for highly flavoured, structured dishes made with red meat or game. Together with a good piece of Parmigiano Reggiano, it can also become the perfect wine for meditating. Worth trying with pheasant served with cream and truffles.

Barolo DOCG 2012 - Oddero: Why we like it

The grapes used by the Oddero winery to make its Barolo DOCG come from three different vineyards and are left to ferment on skins for about twenty days. The three batches are aged separately for 30 months in Austrian and Slavonian oak barrels. A further six months' bottle ageing completes the wine before release for sale. The result is wonderful and rich in nuances, perfectly presented in all its components. It is necessary to wait at least two or three years before it is ready, but if you can wait even longer, the advantages will be numerous.
