Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red colour. Bouquet featuring ripe red fruit and fruits of the forest, along with cola, aromatic herbs and roast almonds. Austere, rich and compact on the palate. It expresses sustained body and a good acid component. It progresses on notes of dried fruit, with a deep, persistent finish.

Pairing

Sassicaia is delicious with refined main courses featuring red meat or game. Excellent with grilled and roast meat, with fillet steak and traditional Tuscan dishes containing wild boar.

Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC "Sassicaia" 2016 - Tenuta San Guido: Why we like it

Sassicaia is undoubtedly one of the most famous Italian wines in the world. It comes from a 75-hectare vineyard which is particularly well-suited to its production, where the land parcels present different characteristics, with calcareous formations and a high content of stone, which, as the Italian word for stone is "sasso", is thought to have given origin to the place name "sassicaia". The vineyards are exposed west and south-west. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in steel, with maceration on skins lasting for about 10 days. The Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2012 of Tenuta San Guido ages in French oak barriques for 24 months, and then continues to age in the bottle.

This bottle comes from private collections, restaurants, wine shops, or rare wines merchants. Before being put on sale, it has been carefully checked by the Tannico Team.
