Tasting Notes

Luminous and deep ruby red, with floral scents emerging in the bouquet, accompanied by fresh fruity notes of cherry, raspberry and citrus fruits. Scents of chocolate, roast tobacco leaf. liquorice root and balsamic notes can be perceived. Harmonious and enveloping, it expresses a full-bodied and intensely flavoured sensation. Elegant, with a noble tannic structure and an evident mineral vein, it offers glimpses of good expressive potential in time.

Pairing

Served throughout a meal, it goes perfectly with every kind of stewed game. Excellent with classic wild boar "alla cacciatora".

Brunello di Montalcino 2013 - Pian delle Vigne, Antinori: Why we like it

Pian delle Vigne is just a few kilometres south of Montalcino, above the Val d'Orcia, and is named after the characteristic 19th century railway station on the estate. A unique place, which is home to about 65 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Sangiovese, the most important variety in the area. It is here that one of the most famous Brunello di Montalcino of the appellation is born. That "Pian delle Vigne" capable of uniting public and critics like few other Tuscan wines. A great Brunello, fruit of attentive vinification in steel and long ageing in oak barrels of varying size.
