Selezione Castello Vicchiomaggio
Chianti Classico 2022
The label itself is a tribute to the territory, featuring the Renaissance gateway of the castle. Behind it, you can spot the breathtaking panorama of the Val di Greve.
The 2022 vintage was a surprising testament to the value of the winemaker's work. In spite of the summer heat and drought, Castello Vicchiomaggio's skill and care in the vineyard resulted in fresh, fruity wines.
Then came our wine experts, who, after precise and meticulous tastings, put together the blend of plots that you find in this bottle. Discover it at the special launch price, available only until 27 March 2024 or while stocks last.

Tasting notes
Ruby red with purple highlights. On the nose, there are scents of violets, notes of berries, floral aromas and echoes of spices; on the palate, it is elegant and juicy, balanced by a good level of acidity, with tannins present but very fine and delicate, concluding with excellent persistence.
The Chianti Classico
we sought to create
Castello Vicchiomaggio and our experts shared a common goal in this project.
To create a great everyday wine, which was first and foremost convivial and could portray the region in a informal, clean and qualitive manner.
A Chianti Classico to be drunk at any time and uncorked in company, even as an aperitif.
THE WINERY
Tannico's collaboration with the historic Castello Vicchiomaggio winery in Greve, Chianti has given rise to Selezione Castello Vicchiomaggio, created with the aim of uniting experience and knowledge of the territory with a more modern and convivial approach to wine, combining tradition and modernity.
The wines are made with the undeniable link to the Chianti region that distinguishes John and Paola Matta's company. They were assisted by the Tannico staff throughout the production process, which was carried out as always with professionalism and rigour, without forcing and following natural rhythms as closely as possible, to allow the grapes to express their full potential.
The property has about 33 hectares of vineyards, and among the varieties cultivated, Sangiovese, a traditional grape essential to the production of Chianti Classico, stands out above all.
Other international varieties, such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, are also present.
The area is characterised by a hot, humid climate and typical soil rich in clay and large stones, known as marl.
At Castello Vicchiomaggio, the vineyards extend along the hillsides on soils rich in large stones and clay; the wines are aged in both wood and barriques.
Strongly linked to the terroir, well cared for, elegant, and with great character, these wines are marked by a modern style and have been rewarding the owners for all their efforts for years.
