Tasting Notes

Ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet is floral with clear aromas of sweet violet that dominate the fruity notes. Followed by aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and black sour cherry accompanied by hints of liquorice and spicy notes of nutmeg and white pepper. The first impact on the palate is warm with a marked taste of tannins. The texture is decisive, a characteristic typical of Chianti Rùfina. Long persistence.

Pairing

Throughout the meal, it pairs well with grilled red meat, roast lamb, young pecorino cheese.

Chianti Rùfina Riserva DOCG “Nipozzano” 2016 - Frescobaldi: Why we like it

An ancient fortress defending Florence until the year AD 1000, the Castle of Nipozzano is the most famous and historic property of the Frescobaldi family. Popular tradition has it that the word Nipozzano means “without a well”, supporting the fact that the area lacks water, a circumstance ideal for growing vines. The castle and the vine growing estate are located to the east of Florence in the heart of the prestigious Chianti Rufina territory, precisely on the mountainous side that overlooks the valley of the Arno River. Thanks to the perfect balance of altitude, soil and fresh breezy micro-climate, the different varieties find the ideal conditions for perfect growth and make it possible to produce wines having a harmonious character and longevity. Chianti Rùfina Riserva is one of the historic wines of the company, a symbol of the Tuscan wine producing tradition. Left to mature for about 24 months in first and second passage barriques, it is a complex intense fine wine which can maintain a solid tie with the style of the territory.
