Tasting Notes

Ruby red with purple nuances, it expresses very intense aromas in the nose and nicely persistent fruit. Currants, blueberries and cherries, cardamom and cinnamon open up to a smooth and warm palate, with a good tannic structure, characterised by a certain return of black pepper in the finish.

Pairing

Served throughout a meal, the Shiraz of Casale del Giglio pairs well with meat dishes, including cold meats (carpaccio, etc.). Also worth trying with grilled tuna fillet.

Lazio Shiraz IGT 2016 - Casale del Giglio: Why we like it

Shiraz (or Syrah) is a grape variety of oriental origin, which comes from Ancient Persia and became established in France, mainly in the Rhône Valley, where it is used in the production of famous wines like Hermitage and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Casale del Giglio introduced it into the province of Latina in 1985, since when it has been one of its most authoritative interpreters, at least in Italy. 8 to 12 months spent ageing in barriques produce Casale del Giglio Lazio Shiraz IGT 2014: a rich and deep wine, smooth and velvety, perfectly sustained by a good trace of freshness.
