Tasting Notes

This garnet-coloured red wine features an ethereal yet sophisticated profile of aromas characterised by notes of extremely ripe fruit including fruit preserved in spirits. These then develop into nuances of vanilla and hints of liquorice, cloves and black pepper. In the mouth it is full-bodied, robust and characterised by a good amount of tannins with a persistent finish.

Pairing

This wine pairs well with dishes featuring red meat or game. It is a definite must-try with goose in a balsamic vinegar reduction.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG “Messaggero” 2009 - Montemercurio: Why we like it

Refined, elegant, robust and full of character. These are the characteristics that predominate in Montemercurio’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. Aged for at least 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels, this wine undergoes another aging period of 6 months in small barrels containing no more than 10 hectolitres each. Finally, it is aged for another year once bottled, leaving us with a great wine that encompasses all the true essence of Montepulciano wines.
