Arianna Occhipinti

Arianna Occhipinti's relationship with her land is marked by a deep, almost visceral love. An unbreakable bond, that not many wines are able to replicate, in the way of embodying their territory of origin, the vintage and the winemaker’s style. Graduated in Viticulture and Oenology in Milan, Arianna Occhipinti immediately embarked on the endeavour of a lifetime, that was to create her farm from scratch, along the SP68 (provincial road 68), which from Vittoria, near Ragusa, leads north.
Today, less than 20 years later, anybody can tell it’s been a successful challenge as ever: here, some of the greatest wines, not only Sicilian, are born from an uncompromising natural agricultural regime and produced from grapes of Nero d'Avola and Frappato. Vibrant, generous and elegant wines. Definitely unmissable wines.
The setting is that of Fossa di Lupo, a place where the land turns red in the evening and is swept by winds coming from the mountains of south-eastern Sicily. It's here that, row after row, Arianna Occhipinti's farm now extends over twenty hectares of vineyards, in the districts of Bombolieri, Bastonaca and Pettineo. In the vineyard, the plants’ average age is over 20 years, with some vines reaching even half a century. In the cellar, after completing the construction of the new premises, the spaces are large and modern, but the fil rouge is the same as that in the vineyard: sobriety, naturalness and frankness, along with authenticity and a terroir-first mentality. The result is plain and yet hard to achieve: wines that stand out for their complexity, freshness, pleasantness, elegance, and finally persistence. Long story short, you won’t find many wines like these; undoubtedly to be included among the best of the island.
