Cavicchioli

"Cavicchioli 1928": it’s a very specific choice, that of inserting the date of foundation of the company logo, to underline that the Cavicchioli family has been dedicated to the art of making wine for over a century. Over a century during which the pivotal points have always remained the same, the original ones: respect for nature and love for one's work. In San Prospero, a small village near Modena, it all started in the workshop-cellar behind the house, where Umberto Cavicchioli, officially on April 6th 1928, started the production of his Lambrusco di Sorbara. Since then, many things have changed; first his sons Franco, Romano and Piergiorgio took over, then his grandsons Sandro and Claudio, and the business has grown exponentially: the hectares of vines currently available in the winery are about 90, for an annual production that reaches an average of ten million bottles. In the territory of Sorbara, and in the fertile area between the Secchia and Panaro rivers, the Lambrusco vines have found an ideal terroir, and are able to produce some of the most excellent and expressive grapes of the whole Modena area. In the cellar the bunches are transformed into equally exceptional wines, starting with the Lambrusco di Sorbara “Vigna del Cristo”, a label that regularly, season after season, is rewarded with important awards from industry critics. Then all the other wines are impressive, too, such as Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Salamino and Pignoletto: frank and honest wines, they’re meant to be friendly, convivial and welcoming just like the land they come from. Cavicchioli is a real milestone winery for the vinification of Lambrusco, in the lands of the Modena area.
