“I was only a few years old. My grandparents, Giovina and Attilio, took me to the countryside they had left to move to the city. I remember my grandma cooking a fresh egg for me. And my grandpa placing a chick in my hands and making me sit on the tractor while I imagined traveling through the fields. To these memories we need to add a story about my dad’s father, Francesco: he used to take refuge in the vineyard to rediscover lost joy and serenity. Thus, since then, the countryside has become for me a safe and welcoming place of authentic affection, serenity, tenderness. And this is how in 2003, thanks to the fundamental support of my parents, the property became an important part of my existence, which today continues alongside my wife Michela”.
No other explanation could have better described and be more effective than the words of Francesco Cirelli about his farm, that today is a winery and an “agriturismo” at the same time. This is near Teramo, in Abruzzo, in the territory of the municipality of Atri in particular. Just 8 kilometers from the Adriatic, it’s where the vineyards sit, covering a total of about 6 hectares.
In the vineyard, organic certified, the Montepulciano and Trebbiano plants, reared in full respect of the environment and ecosystem, produce rich, concentrated and straightforward grapes. These bunches originate two distinct but at the same time parallel lines of labels, one processed according to a traditional vinification, while the other obtained by performing a vinification in terracotta amphorae. The main philosophy followed in the cellar is that of "the less you do, the better", so that artificial interventions are reduced to a minimum, in order to preserve the peculiarities of the raw material as much as possible. From Montepulciano d’Abruzzo to Cerasuolo, passing through Trebbiano, wonderful wines come to life in this way. Magnetic wines of rare expressiveness.
