Egly-Ouriet

Egly-Ouriet, a family domaine with a four-generation long history, is located in Ambonnay, a Grand Cru municipality in the heart of the Reims Mountain, where pinot noir is king. Property vineyards, about 11.5 hectares, are all 40 to 60 years of age: of the total, only four hectares are not planted with Pinot Noir grapes, but with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes (two hectares each). Egly-Ouriet owns plots in Bouzy, Verzenay as well (both Grand Cru municipalities of the Reims Mountain) and in Vrigny, where there is a 2 hectare Premier Cru vineyard, from which a pure Pinot Meunier Champagne is born.
In the vineyard everything is handled with the utmost respect for the environment, nature and ecosystem. Sustainable agronomic practices are adopted, which require the minimum intervention of the man and are based, at the same time, on the most deeply rooted local traditions. Egly-Ouriet’s reins are now in the hands of Francis Egly, a winemaker of vast talent and sensitivity, who was able to elaborate Champagne of great territorial expressiveness: six labels in total at the moment, in addition to a Coteaux Champenois, a rare red wine from the area. In the cellar, the philosophy is the same as the one adopted in the vineyard, and the goal is always to intervene artificially as little as possible, so as to let the grapes and the terroir speak. All the cuvées rest for at least three years in the cellar before being released on the market, and the sugar dosage after disgorging is always the bare minimum.
This is how purebred Champagnes come to life, capturing the terroir and the complexity, expressing qualitative levels that are sometimes unbelievable. Brut Tradition, Blanc de Noirs "Les Vignes de Vrigny", "Les Crayères" , as well as vintage wines, and the precious Coteaux Champenois Rouge "Cuvée des Grands Côtes": these are all irresistible and charming labels, able to seduce from the first sip and able to make you fall in love in all respects.
