Massolino

Winery founded in Serralunga d'Alba in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, Massolino winery developed especially in the 1930s, when Giovanni's son Giuseppe, together with his wife Angela, chose to extend the property. In 1934 Giuseppe became a founding member of the Consortium for the protection of Barolo and Barbaresco. At the end of the 1980s, Franco and Roberto Massolino, fourth family generation, gave further impetus to the company, buying important and prestigious crus, which today constitute the scoreoul of the estate: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda. Following a philosophy focused on the most ancient traditions, but also on the ability to innovate production techniques in close continuity with the past, the main objective of the company remains one and only one: to produce wines able to best express the typicality of the territory, and at the same time offering the highest possible level of quality.
The vineyard, currently covering an area corresponding to about 24 hectares, is at an altitude of 300 to 360 meters above sea level, and enjoys microclimate particularly suited to the cultivation of vines. Plants are grown with total respect for the environment and ecosystem, so as to produce valuable, concentrated and straightforward fruits. Grapes that in the cellar are processed in a rigorous and precise manner, maniacally and constantly following each production step: the vinification is followed by ageing and refinement, carried out in specially made rooms and obtained in what were the original premises of the company, located in the historic centre of Serralunga d'Alba.
Barolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Chardonnay from the Langhe, Barbera d'Alba and Moscato d'Asti: Massolino wines consistently receive the highest awards from the critics, and, above, they all give real emotions, making them one of the best in the entire Piedmont wine scene.
