Petra

The Moretti family decided to invest in a new and exciting adventure in the wine world, near the ancient village of Suvereto in Tuscany, and on the irony hills of the Val di Cornia facing the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Thus was born the Azienda Agricola Petra, rooting in the ancient charm of Greeks and Etruscans, and feeding on the beauty of the Tuscan landscape. From Franciacorta to Maremma for a modern, beautiful and functional winery, capable of interpreting the territory with great contemporaneity. A journey that begun with a thourough study of the territory, in order to understand the most diverse nuances to enhance and express them at their best, offering Tuscan wine of the highest quality and personality.
The vineyards are located on different areas and surfaces, which can be divided into 3 types of soil depending on the origin and location. The first one is on the upper area, it’s a stony, calcareous, and dry soil; followed by soils rich in manganese and metals, subjected to alluvial and erosive phenomena; and the lower part, with soils rich in silt.
The Petra winery, led today by Vittorio Moretti and his daughter Francesca, stands out for its unique and unparalleled wines. They not only express the terroir but also the historic viticulture of these areas and, above all, the passion and emotions leading the company.
Petra's wines are produced on a crossroads where thoughtful architecture, nature, and poetry meet. The cellar is specially designed and created by Mario Botta, an important modern Swiss architect, who always infuses a strong personality with functionality and at the same time an ideal of close connection with the earth. Every year Petra delivers bottles unique for balance and elegance; a wonderful sum up of sunshine, finesse and power, such as the Petra "Colle al Fico", Tuscan red wine obtained from pure Syrah, or the Petra "Hebo", flagship wine of the company, based on Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Or the Petra "Quercegobbe" and "La Balena", issued of an oaked Viogner.
