Scrimaglio

The Scrimaglio winery was founded in 1920 by Pietro Scrimaglio, on the hills of Nizza Monferrato, in Piedmont. After the war, the grandchildren and following generations completed the modernization of the cellar, consolidating the link with their territory, expanding the range of wines produced and starting to export the labels to international markets. In the 1980s Scrimaglio was one of the wineries to believe in the renaissance of Barbera, choosing to make wine in compliance with local traditions and varietal character. Barbera, today the flagship grape of Asti and Monferrato, was once relegated to an exquisitely local production, of widespread consumption and of certainly not faultless quality. At the turn of the new millennium, the Scrimaglio winery promoted the development of the sub-area of Barbera d'Asti, “Nizza”, which fulfilled the dream of being recognized as a separate appellation with the name of Nizza DOCG in 2014. In addition to the Barbera, Scrimaglio promotes other important typical grapes of the region, such as Arneis, Cortese and above all Nebbiolo, from which the precious Barolo and Barbaresco DOCG are born. The family's centuries-old commitment to the production of fine wines and the promotion of native vines has been recognized not only by the reputation that the company has around the world, but by industry critics. The objectives are clear: to develop the presence and brand image all over the world, while preserving that traditional style through which Scrimaglio is inextricably linked to the Langhe and Monferrato area.
