Tasting Notes

This intense ruby-coloured red wine boasts elegant aromas of dark-fleshed fruit such as prune and marasca cherry, as well as violet with undertones of mint, brushwood, coffee, rosemary and other spices. Full-bodied and opulent in the mouth, this wine’s dense tannins and acidity develop on the palate to offer you a balanced, fruity, fragrant and elegant long finish.

Pairing

This Sangiovese wine marries wonderfully with red meat-based dishes, especially grilled meats or a nice steak. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

Toscana Rosso IGT Sangiovese 2010 - San Ferdinando: Why we like it

This San Ferdinando Sangiovese is produced from vineyards that rest on clay soil in the Chiana valley in the province of Arezzo. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted before being fermented grapes only, no stems in temperature-controlled steel vats. The fermented grapes then undergo an extended period of maceration from around 14 to 16 days before being left to age in French oak casks for 18 months, and then further aged once bottled.
