Château Pichon Baron

Château Pichon Baron and Château Pichon Longueville Lalande originally formed a single large wine estate, located in the Bordeaux region, in the territory of the AOC of Pauillac. Divided into two distinct wineries in 1830, the two companies continued to be controlled by the same management for some decades, and eventually took separate paths. Château Pichon Baron remained in the properties of the Pichon-Longueville family until 1933, and subsequently changed different owners, facing difficult periods in the 60s and 70s, due to scarce investments; then, at the end of the 80s, it passed into the hands of the AXA insurance group, which started major renovations of the premises and replanting the vineyards. The estate currently extends over a vineyard area of 73 hectares, with prevalence of cabernet sauvignon (65%), followed by merlot (30%), cabernet franc (3%) and petit verdot (2%). Cabernet franc and petit verdot are reserved exclusively for the production of the second wine of the Château.
In the vineyard, the vines grow on soils rich in gravel, planted with a density reaching 9 thousand plants per hectare, producing grapes of unsurpassed quality. Bunches that are always interpreted in the cellar without ever losing sight of the highest quality standards. While exploiting the most modern oenological technologies, the most ancient and deeply rooted territorial traditions are never outclassed; Château Pichon Baron wines always prove to be rich and consistent Bordeaux blends: elegant and energetic, capable in the best years of evolving wonderfully for entire decades. The Grand Vin of Château Pichon Baron, "Les Tourelles de Longueville", and "Les Griffons de Pichon Baron" are all bottles able to make you fall in love from the first sip.
