Ognissole

In one of his writings, the ancient Greek poet Leonidas of Taranto, who lived between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC, spoke of the lands of Puglia as lands which, throughout the entire day, are illuminated by "every sun". From this came the inspiration for the choice of the company name, of what is now one of the most interesting wine making companies in all of Apulia and beyond. “Ognissole” captured the sun, warmth, sea, wealth, character and elegance of this land. Starting from a project aimed at enhancing the main Apulian indigenous grape varieties, the production is concentrated in two historical areas from which the respective appellations take their name: Castel del Monte and Gioia del Colle. The first is located in the Alta Murgia, between Canosa di Puglia and Castel del Monte, in a hilly area surrounded by olive trees, with calcareous-tuffaceous soils and 27 hectares of entirely biodynamic vineyards since 1992 (Demeter certified for 20 years) . Mostly the Nero di Troia, Moscato Bianco, Bombino Bianco, Chardonnay and Montepulciano varieties are grown here and this is where the winery is based. The second cultivation area is located about 80 km further south, on the Gioia del Colle plateau with an organically-run production site of 6 hectares exclusively dedicated to Primitivo. The vines are grown with method and the utmost respect for the environment, nature and ecosystem and the grapes in the cellar are interpreted without ever altering what the vintage and the territory have expressed in the fruit. The result of all this are wines that tell what is the most beautiful Apulian enology. Real wines, honest wines, sincere wines.
