Tasting Notes

Wine with an intense ruby red colour. The olfactive profile is broad and elegant. It is rich in aromas of flowers, red fruits with hints of minerals and the forest floor. On the palate it is complex and deep, an extremely full-bodied wine with soft evolved tannins and an a little crispiness. The finish is very long and persistent.

Pairing

Aglianico del Vulture “Bosco del Falco” DOC di Grifalco is a wine that calls for parings with substantial menus. Its structure and complexity make it ideal for red meat roasts, braised meats and game in general.

Aglianico del Vulture DOC “Bosco del Falco” 2007 - Grifalco: Why we like it

It is a sumptuous red wine. The grapes used for the production of Aglianico del Vulture DOC “Bosco del Falco” di Grifalco, come from the oldest vineyards of the estate, all of which are more than 50 years old, cultivated at 400/500 metres altitude with a density of 5,000/8,000 vines per hectare. After careful picking in the vineyard only the best bunches are selected in the winery. Destalking and crushing is followed by fermentation lasting about 20/25 days. The wine is then refined in French and Slavonian oak barrels of capacity 25-50 hectolitres and in barriques which have not been charred. Refining in the bottle before sale lasts at least 12 months. This wine has a great potential for ageing and is able to evolve toward a bouquet that becomes increasingly elegant with time.
