Tasting Notes

Ruby red in colour, it expresses attractive notes of wild flowers, red fruit and a touch of nutmeg. Dry and fresh on the palate, it is characterised by a certain smoothness which offsets the tannins. Balanced and very pleasant, it closes on notes which are just slightly bitterish.

Pairing

Served throughout a meal, it pairs well with starters featuring cured meats and medium-mature cheeses, succulent pasta dishes and roast red and white meats.

If Sagrantino is the most important wine in the Montefalco area, Rosso is undoubtedly that which accompanies everyday life here. A remarkably fresh and balanced wine, son of a traditional blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot, which is left to age for about a year in large oak barrels. Arnaldo Caprai's Montefalco Rosso DOC 2013 is a wine of rare pleasance, a great companion at the table, now and for many seasons to come.
