Tasting Notes

The harmony of aromas and sensations is the starting and finishing point of this great Saint-Julien. Fragrant, enveloping, expressive, it reveals notes of cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, mingling with hints of violet, mint and pencil lead. On the palate there is a spicy note with rich tannins leading to a long, lively finish.

Saint-Julien AOC Grand Cru Classé 2023 - Château Talbot (cassetta di legno 3 bottiglie): Why we like it

The Château Talbot vineyard covers 110 hectares and extends north to the border of the Pauillac appellation. The soil here consists of fine Gunzian gravel on limestone hillsides, ideal for drainage. Nancy Bignon-Cordier supervises the wine production with the help of oenologist Eric Boissenot and consultant-celebrity Stéphane Derenoncourt. Vinification can take place in wooden or stainless steel vats and each container is chosen according to the specific plot. The impressive new barrique cellar, finished in 2012, covers 1,500 square metres for 1,800 barrels. After ageing, blending is a delicate and in-depth knowledge of the vineyard. Château Talbot's style seeks a soft texture and silky tannins, suitable for tasting the wine young or aged. With time, the wines develop complexity, with aromas of cedar and Havana tobacco. Once again this year, Talbot racks up another great achievement in a decade of great success.
