Tasting Notes

Notes of dark fruits such as plum and blackberry are accompanied by a strong imprint of leather and liquorice root. The tannin is well integrated and the sip is without the slightest edge.

With a quality recognised since the 1855 classification, and managed by the oldest family owning a Grand Cru in Bordeaux, Château Léoville Barton represents an immortal classic of the Saint-Julien appellation. The Léoville Barton blend favours cabernet sauvignon as usual, complemented by merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. Right from the tasting en primeur, its great austerity on the nose and its size in the mouth stand out, living up to its Cru Classé status, with good chewiness and suave tannins. Fleshy and with deep fruit on a subtle texture, the wine shows great balance and good freshness.
