Tasting Notes

In the glass, it has a beautiful intense golden yellow colour. The nose is driven primarily by notes of pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit. The sip is smooth and balanced, fresh and sweet at the same time, with excellent persistence.

Sauternes AOC 1er Grand Cru Classé 2023 - Château Guiraud: Why we like it

When one speaks of excellence within such a fascinating appellation as Sauternes, one cannot but start with the Grand Cru of Château Guiraud. First and foremost, this is the first Premier Grand Cru Classé since 1855 to obtain organic certification, with a commitment to defending biodiversity that began back in the 1990s. The traditional grapes of Sauternes, sémillion and sauvignon create a wine that is fascinating for the assortment of aromas it releases on the nose and the concentration of sweet flavours in the mouth, always well balanced and never too invasive. Fermentation for about 3-8 weeks in half new and half used barriques, separate ageing in barriques for a year and blending for a further year. This is the painstaking recipe that leads to this Sauternes, an incredible nectar whose magical refinement captivates from the very first sip.
