Tasting Notes

The density and concentration are remarkable. The Cabernet profile remains lean and precise, playing above all on the notes of fruit and flower. The graphite note is a fil rouge that runs through the fine acidity and well-present tannin, closing on a slightly savoury finish.

Moulis-en-Médoc AOC 2023 - Château Chasse-Spleen (cassetta di legno 6 bottiglie): Why we like it

Château Chasse-Spleen is perched on the magnificent clay-limestone plateau of Grand Poujeaux. In the smallest Médoc appellation, Moulis, the estate boasts a variety of soils, ranging from Garonne and Pyrenean gravel to a mix of clay and limestone. The wine reflects this diversity, combining the freshness and minerality of the cabernets planted on a deep gravel layer, with the roundness of the merlots planted on the clay-limestone soil. The wine is aged 40% in new barriques for 18 months. An excellent representation of how even Bordeaux's less emblazoned terroirs hide precious gems within them.
