Tasting Notes

An intense and expressive nose characterises this sunny vintage, in which the fresh, floral notes of Cabernet make a significant impact on the bouquet. The attack is generous, full, powerful, with integrated tannins and solid acidity, captivating with the promise of impressive ageing.

Saint-Émilion AOC 2023 - Château Cheval Blanc (cassetta di legno): Why we like it

‘A legendary château on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, in 2022 it will abandon the Saint-Émilion classification system and give up its Premier Grand Cru Classé A title.
At the culmination of a process aimed at coping with climate change and soil impoverishment, agroforestry has been practised for years at Château Cheval Blanc, a system involving the planting of trees and vegetable gardens alongside the vines, along with the resumption of fallow land, in order to move from monoculture to polyculture. The encouragement of biodiversity has proved crucial in giving the vines the strength to withstand even extreme temperatures such as in the 2020 and 2022 vintages. Finally, the uniqueness of its terroir allows Cheval Blanc to achieve the opulence of wines produced on clay soils and at the same time the finesse typical of those wines from gravelly soils. All enhanced by ageing entirely in new barrels. A true legend on the Bordeaux scene.’
