BODEGAS LA VAL

Bodegas La Val was founded in 1985 in Salvaterra de Miño, in the Rías Baixas appellation in the Galicia region of Spain, and was one of the first wineries to promote Albariño: a project that, in 1988, contributed to the creation of the appellation itself. The winery immediately stood out for its commitment to producing wine exclusively from its own vineyards, a relatively rare choice in a region where many buy from external farmers.

Today, Bodegas La Val has around 90 hectares of vineyards, spread across the estates of Arantei (35 hectares, planted in 1989), Taboexa (13 hectares, since 1990) and Porto (5 hectares, since 2012). The vineyards, located between 50 and 350 metres above sea level, extend over varied soils ranging from clayey-loamy to decomposed granite, with sandy veins and pebbles, key elements for the typical minerality of the wines. The cool, humid climate is managed through pergola training, a solution that improves ventilation and promotes uniform ripening, preventing rot.

Agriculture and winemaking are guided by the pursuit of quality: manual harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, ageing on fine lees and resting before release, to obtain more elegant and less astringent profiles, typical of young Albariño. This approach allows Bodegas La Val to focus on the purity and freshness of the terroir.

In March 2023, the CVNE group (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), already present in Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Valdeorras and Cava, acquired Bodegsa La Val as its first winery in Rías Baixas. The operation consolidates the group's presence in Spain and expands its range with prestigious Albariño wines. Bodegas La Val exports around 70% of its production, reflecting its refined international positioning.

Thanks to its strong identity and a native grape variety that is valued at every stage, Bodegas La Val is now one of the leading wineries in Rías Baixas, pursuing a vision of agricultural excellence and terroir, now supported by the resources and experience of a large Spanish wine group.
