VERDEJO

Verdejo: the aristocratic white wine of Spanish tradition

Our selection of Verdejo wines offers a journey through one of Spain's most representative white grape varieties. From classic Rueda wines to modern interpretations by emerging producers, this collection represents the essence of a grape variety capable of creating fresh, aromatic wines with a distinct personality.

The aromatic essence of Rueda

Verdejo finds its highest expression in the Rueda appellation, a region northwest of Madrid, where sandy soils and high temperature variations create ideal conditions for this grape variety. Here, producers such as Marqués de Riscal, Menade, and José Pariente vinify Verdejo with an unmistakable aromatic profile, characterized by notes of citrus, herbs, and a touch of tropical fruit, supported by a vibrant minerality.

Stylistic versatility and winemaking techniques

Our collection explores the different interpretations of Verdejo: from the most immediate and fresh versions, vinified in steel to preserve their primary aromas, such as those from Protos and Cuatro Rayas, to more complex elaborations with short aging on lees or in wood, such as those from Belondrade and Naia. There is no shortage of innovative productions such as Ossian's Verdejo fermented in amphorae, which enhances the minerality and structure of the grape variety.

The ideal companion for summer dining

Verdejo wines are distinguished by their exceptional gastronomic versatility. Their freshness and aromatic profile make them perfect accompaniments to seafood appetizers, summer salads, grilled fish, and shellfish. The more structured versions also pair well with white meats, risottos, and soft cheeses, confirming Verdejo as one of the most versatile and enjoyable whites in the Spanish winemaking tradition.
