This unique location creates a mosaic of microclimates ideal for growing grapes, with rolling hills overlooking the sea benefiting from constant breezes and significant temperature variations. The soils, mainly clayey and calcareous, give Marche wines a distinctive minerality and freshness, identifying traits of a region that expresses authenticity and character in every bottle.
Verdicchio is undoubtedly the flagship of Marche winemaking, with its two main expressions in the Castelli di Jesi and Matelica areas. The former, influenced by its proximity to the sea, offers wines of great elegance, with fruity and floral notes, while Verdicchio di Matelica, grown in a high Apennine valley, is distinguished by a more pronounced minerality and verticality. Both versions show an extraordinary capacity for aging, a rare characteristic for an Italian white wine, which has led Verdicchio to be recognized as one of Italy's greatest whites, capable of evolving for over a decade, developing surprising complexity and depth.
In addition to the famous Verdicchio, the Marche region boasts a rich heritage of native grape varieties that are experiencing a well-deserved renaissance. Among the reds, Montepulciano and Sangiovese are the protagonists of Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno, wines with structure and character that reflect the intensity of the territory. Lacrima di Morro d'Alba enchants with its unmistakable aromatic profile of roses and red fruits, while Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, with its unique triple fermentation, is a rare gem in the world of wine. The picture is completed by varieties such as Pecorino and Passerina, whites of growing interest, and Bianchello del Metauro, testimony to a viticultural biodiversity that passionate producers are promoting with approaches that are increasingly respectful of the territory, including organic viticulture and minimalist interventions in the cellar.
