SARDINIA

One island, a thousand terroirs: the uniqueness of Sardinia

Sardinia represents an extraordinary wine universe, where geographical isolation has preserved a unique and original wine-growing heritage. This ancestral land, shaped by sea winds and intense sunshine, offers a mosaic of terroirs that translate into wines with unmistakable character, an authentic expression of wild landscapes, millenary traditions, and biodiversity unmatched in the Mediterranean.

Cannonau and Vermentino: ambassadors of the island

Cannonau, the prince of Sardinian reds and a relative of Grenache, produces wines of extraordinary personality, with notes of ripe red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and a warm, enveloping structure, especially in the Barbagia versions. Vermentino, especially in its Gallura DOCG expression, enchants with its freshness, minerality, and citrus notes, reflecting the brightness and sea breeze of the coastal areas. These two grape varieties represent the dual soul of Sardinian winemaking, capable of expressing both power and refined elegance.

A treasure trove of native grape varieties

The island boasts an extraordinary ampelographic heritage. Carignano del Sulcis, grown as saplings on marine sands, offers complex and long-lived wines. Nuragus and Vernaccia di Oristano, the latter with its fascinating oxidative process, tell of ancient traditions. There is no shortage of rarities such as Cagnulari, Monica, Bovale, and Malvasia di Bosa, expressions of a biodiversity that a new generation of winemakers is rediscovering with sustainable and respectful approaches to the territory, creating wines that are increasingly attracting the attention of international enthusiasts and critics.
