LES CHEMINS DE BASSAC

Bruno Trigueiro, originally from Brazil, started the ‘Les Chemins De Bassac’ winery in the middle of the second decade of the 21st century, in 2016 to be precise. We are, of course, in Bassac, the hamlet that gives its name to the estate, located in the Languedoc region of France. In a pleasant and bright climate, it is enjoyable to stroll along the paths that wind through olive groves, vineyards and woods. The word “bassac” was once used to refer to the place where horses were left to rest, as they were often used for work in the vineyards in this area.

The ‘Les Chemins De Bassac’ estate was born from an old estate dating back to 1900. We are located in Puimisson, 12 km north of Béziers, in a privileged climate where the influences of the Mediterranean Sea meet the effects of the mountain climate. At an altitude ranging from 100 metres above sea level to 500 metres, the soil is rich in clay and limestone, which undoubtedly originated from the formation of ancient alluvial terraces. In this setting, the vines benefit from a good supply of water, which enables them to withstand even the hottest and driest summers, producing rich, concentrated, healthy and authentic grapes that result in well-balanced wines characterised by elegant finesse.

With the utmost respect for nature, the environment and the ecosystem, the only universal law that is respected at “Les Chemins De Bassac” is that of always obtaining the best raw material, so that from the vineyard to the cellar, the intrinsic characteristics of the grapes are respected to the utmost. The grapes, harvested according to their degree of ripeness, can be vinified separately or together. Only indigenous yeasts are used in the vinification process. Ageing takes place in both wood and steel. The result is wines of character and great interest. These wines are never standardised and are a faithful reflection of the terroir from which they originate.
