PÉREZ BARQUERO

The Pérez Barquero winery is located in the heart of Andalusia, in Montilla, near Córdoba, in sunny Spain. Founded in 1905, this historic winery has always maintained the traditions and artisan practices that make its products unique and expressive.

The winery's vineyards are located in particularly suitable areas, between the prestigious regions of Sierra Montilla and Moriles Alto, with unique soil and microclimate. This combination of elements allows Pérez Barquero to produce wines of the highest quality with an unmistakable character.

The region of Andalusia, with its hot, dry climate and rich soils, well positioned between the rivers Gauadalquivir, Guadajoz and Genil, provides a privileged terroir that is undoubtedly suited to the cultivation of vines, particularly the Pedro Ximénez variety, which, thanks to excellent sun exposure and high sugar concentration, finds its maximum expression of aromas and flavours in these areas.

The vineyards of Bodegas Pérez Barquero are home not only to Pedro Ximénez, but also to varieties such as Baladí-Verdejo, Layrén, Moscatel, Torrontés and Tempranillo, as well as international varieties such as Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The winery's philosophy involves organic fertilisation and manual pruning in the vineyard, while in the cellar, fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperatures is preferred in order to enhance the primary aromas and fragrance of the varietal in the wines.
