TERRE A MANO

Although the Bacchereto Farm has belonged to the Bencini Tesi family since the early 1900s, it was only with the arrival of Rossella Bencini that the turning point leading to the current production took place.

After a long series of consultations with wine experts, Rossella decided, about fifteen years ago, to take over the estate and move it towards a natural approach, based on a rigorous biodynamic method in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the cellar: this is how the Terre a Mano project came to life.

We are located on the gentle slopes of Montalbano, in the province of Prato, not far from Carmignano, in an area that has always been dedicated to viticulture. This is where the Bacchereto estate is located, where Rossella strives to respect what nature offers through her work.

Every decision is carefully considered and evaluated among the rows of vines, so the path taken is clear: reduced production per plant, careful care of the vineyard without the use of herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides, the use of green manure, the exclusive use of copper and sulfur to combat plant diseases, and the removal of weeds exclusively by hand. All this is done with the utmost respect for the balance of the environment, nature, the ecosystem, and biodiversity.

On a total area of almost 170 hectares, at an altitude ranging from 200 to 500 meters above sea level, about eight hectares are dedicated to vine cultivation.

In the cellar, under the guidance of Marco Vannucci and Adriano Zago, respectively oenologist and cellar master, the most ancient traditions are followed, working without the addition of yeasts or other additives, aging is carried out in oak tonneaux and bottling is carried out without any prior filtration.

This is how, over the years, we have seen steady growth in production thanks to very tasty, deep, and long-lasting wines. From “Sassocarlo,” a traditional blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia, to Carmignano and Vin Santo, a unique and unforgettable wine.
