Tasting Notes

Champagne Brut Nature Rosé "Philippe Starck" Millésimé 2018 - Louis Roederer (astuccio): Why we like it

Brand

A bit of history

One of the last wineries in the French Champagne region still owned by the same family that founded it back in 1776 in Reims is Louis Roederer. The winery got its current name in 1833, when Louis Roederer inherited the business from his uncle and remodelled it in his own image.

A Maison that bucks the trend

While others were buying grapes, Louis focused entirely on the work in the vineyard, purchasing the best plots of land, convinced that the quintessence of a great wine lay in the soil, and thus shaping the destiny of the Maison that would bear his name.

The Louis Roederer Maison today

The Roederer winery boasts nearly 240 hectares of land, divided between the three best crus in Champagne, located in the villages of Montagne de Reims, Côtes des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, which produce the ideal grapes for its elegant and balanced wines.

These two elements, the family organisation and the quality of the crus, allow the company to constantly improve the quality of its Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes, always striving for excellence in its products (which are undoubtedly among the best wines available online in our shop).

Cristal: the legendary Champagne

The Louis Roederer winery is also famous for inventing Cristal.

The invention came about to satisfy the requests of Russian Tsars Nicholas I and Alexander II, great lovers of the Maison and eager to receive a supply of Champagne in pure crystal bottles.

The blend quickly became the winery's flagship product thanks to its extraordinary finesse and elegance, thus contributing to creating what is now a legend and the pinnacle of Louis Roederer Champagne's history worldwide.

Thanks to the family's innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, Louis Roederer Champagne, Brut, Rosé or Demi Sec, became the official supplier to many monarchies and noble dynasties around the world, building the reputation it still enjoys today thanks to the sale of over three million bottles of Champagne each year and the unrivalled value for money it consistently offers.
