Tasting Notes

Salento Negroamaro IGT "Masseria Maìme" 2023 - Tormaresca: Why we like it

Brand

Tormaresca: Apulian excellence by Antinori

Tormaresca represents the prestigious project of the Antinori family in Puglia, created with the aim of promoting the rich wine heritage of this Mediterranean region. The company is spread over two distinct estates that reflect the different souls of Puglia's wine industry.

To the north, the Bocca di Lupo estate in the Castel del Monte DOC covers 130 hectares immersed in the Murgia Barese. To the south, on the Salento peninsula, we find the Masseria Maìme estate with 350 hectares in the heart of Salento, a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea.

A mosaic of grape varieties between tradition and innovation

The Tormaresca project promotes both native Apulian grape varieties and international varieties perfectly adapted to the Mediterranean climate. Negroamaro, Primitivo, Aglianico, Fiano Pugliese, and Bombino find authentic expression alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah.

The famous “Calafuria” rosé, made from Negroamaro grapes, is the emblem of the winery's production: fresh, elegant, and intensely Mediterranean, it has become a benchmark for quality Apulian rosés. Its coral pink color and aromas of red fruits and citrus fruits reflect the brightness of Salento.

Sustainability and territory in the glass

Tormaresca's production philosophy is based on a deep respect for the territory and its traditions, integrated with the most modern techniques of sustainable viticulture. The vineyards are managed using low environmental impact practices, preserving the biodiversity typical of the Apulian landscape.

The vinification process, carried out using cutting-edge technology, aims to enhance the varietal characteristics of the grapes and the territorial imprint. The result is wines with great personality, combining Mediterranean generosity with surprising elegance and freshness. Today, Tormaresca is an ambassador of excellence for Apulian wine around the world, demonstrating the quality potential of a region that combines millennial tradition, innovation, and an extraordinary heritage of viticultural biodiversity.
