Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild, owned now by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, has been in the Rothschild family since 1853, when Baron Nathaniel bought it at auction and renamed it with its current name. However, it was in 1992 that the destiny of the estate was sealed, when the great-grandson of the baron, Philippe, took the fate of the property in his own hands, with entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. This way, within a few years, Château Mouton Rothschild totally changed its face: a modern and over 100-meter-long cellar was built, other plots of cru classé vines were acquired, the marketing and distribution of wines was implemented and, since 1945, celebrated and famous painters have begun taking turns in the creation of the labels. As icing on the cake, we have to mention the creation of the first Franco-Californian quality wine, Opus One, born in partnership with Robert Mondavi. Today, in the wake of an international fame gained through at least magnificent vintages, the company premises and technological equipment have been further modernized, and at the same time the range of wines has expanded. In short, after having reached the top of world oenology, Château Mouton Rothschild has every intention of remaining there for many more years.
