CVNE

The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, which goes by the acronym of "CVNE", is a company founded in 1879 by two brothers, whose descendants are still involved in the management of the company today.
Located in the city of Haro, belonging to the Spanish Rioja, the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, since its origins, has focused on the production of wines with great aging potential, building four distinct cellars for the purpose: "Cvne", "Imperial" , "Viñedos del Contino" and "Viña Real", the latter being created in 1920. The same year that, together with the construction of the cellar, the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España launched "Viña Real" on the market, offering some longly oaked wines of particular value. What for those times was a real innovative revolution, over the decades, it’s now an established typical production practice for the entire Rioja region. A magical place, Rioja, whose vineyards overlooking the Ebro basin are protected by the nearby mountains, and can thus enjoy an ideal climate for the perfect ripening of some of the most important vine varieties in the area, namely the tempranillo. In the vineyard the vines are grown in full respect of the environment and ecosystem, and grow on soils with a composition particularly favorable to viticulture.
In the cellar, the winemaking and aging premises were completely renovated in 2004, the year in which his Majesty Juan Carlos I, then King of Spain, inaugurated the structure which, even today, is the most technologically advanced in all of Spain.
An iconic as well as historical cellar, a perfect synthesis between tradition and modernity, capable of producing labels of extraordinary elegance and of making truly timeless wines.
