Feudi di San Gregorio

Few other wineries in Italy can identify with a territory, with its history and its values, as Feudi di San Gregorio does with Irpinia, near Avellino, in the south of Italy. Not only that: founded in 1986, Feudi di San Gregorio is today one of the very symbols of the enological renaissance of southern Italy, and speaks of a drinking culture that aims at rediscover the essence and identity of Mediterranean flavours. Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi are today among the most important Italian appellations, thanks to a work begun over twenty years ago, and which still continues today. A work that requires the most through safeguard of tradition, while always trying to make the territory’s potential thrive. Of course the story starts with the vineyards, which have always coexisted with orchards, is able to make wine out of over three hundred hectares of vines. The winery’s heart is in the Sorbo Serpico area - where the company headquarters are as well - and along with other vines scattered between the municipalities of Tufo, Taurasi and Santa Paolina, all Feudi di San Gregorio’s grapes are grown at 350 to 700 meters above sea level. Plants with a unique genetic makeup grow on volcanic soils. Agronomic management is extremely respectful of all environmental instances. The cellar was completely renovated in 2004, after a research process wanting to combining tradition and modern technologies.
After the winemaking rooms - in which a specific space has been dedicated to the production of "Dubl" sparkling wines - you can move on to the long barrel room, which houses the red wines: in a mainly underground structure, each space is harmoniously integrated with the territory, for an extremely balanced environmental impact. These are the ingredients that make up the recipe from which the labels of Feudi di San Gregorio come to life: wines that represent the recovery and relaunch of the most authentic oenological Irpinia, and that enhance the uniqueness of a local heritage second to none when it comes to vines and wine.
